I retained Kevin Boyle to represent me in a trust and estate matter involving my grandmother’s estate. I paid a flat fee and expected competent representation, clear communication, and meaningful progress. Instead, my experience was defined by repeated delays, missed commitments, poor communication, ...and a disturbing lack of urgency. Throughout the representation, I had to repeatedly chase Kevin for basic updates. He would tell me that a letter, draft, or next step would be completed by a certain date, then that date would pass with no work product, no explanation, and often no communication at all. This happened multiple times. I was left constantly wondering whether anything had actually been done on my case. The matter involved serious issues, including obtaining a proper trust accounting, enforcing distributions and specific bequests, and addressing concerns about missing or withheld property. These were not minor questions. They required an attorney who would take ownership of the case, communicate clearly, and move the matter forward. Instead, I felt as though I had to manage my own attorney, remind him of outstanding tasks, and repeatedly ask him to do the work I had already paid him to perform. What made the experience especially frustrating was the gap between what I was told would happen and what actually happened. Promises of action were routinely followed by silence. Deadlines appeared to mean very little. I never felt that my case was being handled with the seriousness, attention, or professionalism it deserved. Clients should not have to repeatedly pursue their own attorney for updates, wonder whether promised work has been completed, or feel responsible for keeping their own legal matter moving. That was consistently my experience with Kevin Boyle. I ultimately lost all confidence in his ability or willingness to effectively represent me. Based on my experience, I would not recommend him to anyone dealing with a trust or estate matter, particularly if the case requires persistence, timely action, and dependable communication.
