I concur with Kirk. It is better to be early rather than late in this matter. You should definitely inquire of the family members and see a copy...

The responsibility of the Trust is to benefit ONLY the beneficiary. Someone who is not a beneficiary cannot benefit from the trust.

Alan is correct. Notarizing your own signature is not okay. To be valid, a Notary must be a third party.
