I am an associate of Hutchison & Steffen's litigation department, practicing primarily in insurance litigation, commercial litigation, and family law. Administrative law is another area in which I practice as part of the Firm’s Healthcare Professionals Advocacy Group.
Originally from Maine, I graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Prior to attending law school, I worked for a regional, commercial insurance underwriter. In 2005, I received my Juris Doctorate degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, graduating magna cum laude.
During law school, I published my note, Sustainable Aquaculture: An Organizing Solution in International Law, in the spring 2004 edition of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review and the following year, became Editor-in-Chief of the publication. I served as a judicial-extern to the Honorable Roger T. Benitez of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. I also served as a volunteer in the Las Vegas Juvenile Public Defender’s office, sat on the executive committee of the Environmental Law Society, and received the National Association of Women Lawyers Recognition Award.
After law school, I was law clerk to a sole practitioner handling indigent criminal appeals in California. I joined Hutchison & Steffen Attorneys in summer 2006.
Since joining the Firm, I have worked closely with Hutchison & Steffen partner, L. Kristopher Rath, defending Nevada professionals against complaints lodged with the various state licensing Boards and guiding them through the licensing process. I have assisted Kristopher in numerous actions before the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners, the Dental Board, the Osteopathic Board, the Board of Podiatry and the Board of Pharmacy. My experience includes assisting Kristopher with evidentiary hearings before some of these boards. Within the Firm’s Healthcare Professionals Advocacy Group, I have also handled administrative complaints involving Medicare/Medicaid billing and quality of care issues, private administrative proceeding under the hospital bylaws, and HIPAA compliance programs.
Hutchison & Steffen has an established practice in family law, including adoption, guardianship and marital dissolution. Family law matters are an increasing percentage of my practice, particularly in the area of marital dissolution and child custody, support and visitation. I also serve on the Pro Bono Advisory Council of Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and I am the Firm’s liaison with Legal Aid to orchestrate pro bono matters and service hours amongst dozens of the Firm’s attorneys.

Responsive, knowledgeable, and gets the job done
Shannon was my lawyer for many years through several iterations of custody and support arguments with my ex-spouse. She always answered me quickly and never needed me to “remind” her of previous work. And, best of all, she was always right. When she said she would do a thing, she did it. When she ...

Outstanding litigation of my highly complex custody case
I am so thankful and fortunate to have Shannon Wilson as my attorney. My case was a highly complex, out of state relocation, child custody case involving abuse and addiction. A good friend of mine is a law professor and after asking around she gave me Shannon Wilson's name. I had spoken with two othe...
"I endorse this lawyer. I recently worked on a case with Shannon. I was so impressed with her desire to learn the facts, and understand them, her availability to discuss matters, her preparation, and her ability to bullet point to the court the salient facts. In addition to these qualities, Shannon maintained compassion thruout. While this should be the standard for all lawyers, unfortunately it is not. Shannon is a stand-out!"
