In 1995, the Nevada Legislature abolished the insanity defense. This appeal by Howard Brooks challenged the constitutionality of that abolition. The Nevada Supreme Court overturned the legislative enac ... tment in this case and restored the legal defense of not guilty by reason of insanity. This was one of the most significant published cases by the Nevada Supreme Court since 2000. Finger v. Nevada, 117 Nev. 548, 27 P.3d 66 (2001).
