Gave this lawyer $1800 last September when I hired him - here it is 14 mos later and NOT ONCE did I ever receive a statement showing his hours, balance, etc. He created 2 documents (or the computer software did) & went to courthouse 1x on my behalf. By the end of Dec 2016 (3+ mos) i cancelled Divor...ce and WE did all the legwork, ran papers to HIS ofc for signature & back to Courthouse, etc permitting the "End" for that court #. His staff will put you on hold FOREVER; in person they speak a diff. language while you wait in mini-lobby-very unprofessional. I recd the SAME advice from him as I did 100x before on Google searches about NV laws-nothing different. His lack of enthusiasm to return calls is prevalent, days later and then MAY apologize. When you ask the staff to leave a note & to please REMIND him of something - they stick a Post-It Note on his computer amongst the many others. When I asked him this year what I had "left" in my acct. & what would it costs to BEGIN the process again-he could not tell me what my balance was but said "probably about $1500 and I could restart" - NO accountability. I found he lacked professionalism, as did his staff, he does not hold himself ACCOUNTABLE for those that hire him and doubt he "logs" the amount of time spent on a clients' case-as I have NEVER not received a statement as to what was my balance, HOW much work is being charged against my account, etc. To receive messages on Post-It Notes is a disastrous and CHEAP way of ensuring the client's message gets to the attorney; as I was IN his office and he DENIED he ever recd message & then scoured the amt of Post It's and FOUND my call. When you fly 2300 miles, motel & rental car expense and then get THIS service, unacceptable 100%. I probably wouldn't hire him even if I lived local-but apparently he has handled a few clients' cases successfully over the past years when reading the reviews. I just can't in good faith and clear conscience recommend him and mislead anyone.

This Attorney was very bad with communicating with his paying client, Everytime communication was made with his office I was the one calling them for updates on my case. Finally before I received what I paid him for he sends a letter stating that he was removing himself from my case !!! Not happy wit...h his work at all DONT HIRE THIS LAWYER!!!!

Mr. Hempen has helped me out soo much, he's worked with me financially and always been honest about things regarding court with me. Mr. Hempen and his team have always stayed on top of my case load too. I went through a really horrible divorce, my Ex husband constantly did things to threaten my job..., kids health and genuinely tried to ruin me. Mr. Hempen was always and continues to be my advocate. Breaking things down so I clearly understand and putting things in order so my children and I are protected from such horrible behavior. He's polite, streight forward and gets the job done! Do yourself a favor, go with him! I went through two other lawyers before him and found him to be the best and most on top of things.

Mr. Hempen talks the talk but can't walk the walk. He nor his office staff are organized. When emailing , with or without documents, I very seldom ever received a response. If I did, it would be a request to resend because of one reason or another. All responses were made by his office staff, whic...h are not attorneys. This attorney does not return phone calls. He would continually confuse my case with other clients. He will not or is afraid of aggressive attorneys. He and his staff were continually making clerical errors. After requesting copies of specific records from his office files for over 9 months, he not his office staff were not ever able to locate the documents. In regard to the division of property, he did a very poor representation on my behalf. He failed to cover numerous issues pertaining to child support, bank accounts, missing marital saving and checking accounts. He allowed my ex's attorney to negotiate the division of property with vehicles, which did not belong to me or my ex. Avoid hiring this attorney! I wish I would have.

First he told me a certain price over the phone when I came in he did not have change and said he will just keep the whole amount I brang just in case I needed to pay more later. I never received my change. Threw out most of the time I was always the one calling wondering about my case. He did not se...em too interested in my situation. He was late to my first court date. I had to go to the courts myself to receive the minutes so he could prepare an order which was wrong and another order had to be prepared. Also after all of this he sent me papers that he was going to remove himself as my lawyer. That showed me he had little compassion for my case. I was always polite and nice when ever I spoke to anyone from that "Firm" and I don't think I deserved to be treated the way I was. Highly do not recommend this attorney !!!
