Edna Frances Sprague

I am a New Mexico native who attended University of New Mexico, receiving an undergraduate degree in American and Women’s Studies in 1996. I attended West Virginia University College of Law, in Morgantown, West Virginia, earning my J.D. in 2001. I returned to New Mexico where I was employed as a legal aid lawyer with New Mexico Legal Aid practicing in the areas of housing and domestic relations including domestic violence. In 2005, I went to work for the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office tasked with implementing a domestic violence prosecution pilot project meant to increase the prosecution rate of domestic violence offenders. I ended my career with the District Attorney’s office in 2015 as Deputy District Attorney supervising the Felony Domestic Violence Division. I have handled dozens of jury trials and enjoyed representing the State of New Mexico. My role as a prosecutor was fulfilling and I valued being a voice for victims of domestic violence. I have also extensively trained law enforcement and medical personnel around the state of New Mexico in the area of domestic violence. In my 15 years as a practicing attorney I have demonstrated my commitment to New Mexico families. The move to the law firm of Atkinson & Kelsey, PA was a logical next step as I continue in my career commitment to families. I am straight-forward, tough, and fair. I look forward to representing you.
