Ask the attorney to roll his fee into the plan payments. Btw $1700 is to much, $600 is more the average for that type of action.

$3500 is a lot of money to pay without forcing them to domesticate. They may never domesticate the judgment.

Contingent fee? Maybe on the violation of FDCPA because of the statutory damages available. That lawsuit would be filed in federal court.

You can also write a personal statement that will be placed on all three of your credit reports if you send it to them, explaining the situation.

If you have filed your taxes separately than you may have an innocent spouse claim regarding the tax debt and a bankruptcy will help with the other...
