I have considerable professional experience as a lawyer and expertise in immigration law. I am often interviewed by Channel 9, KGUN TV as an immigration expert, and a handful of these appear under the publications section of this profile.
I participate in professional organizations. I represent the Amercan Bar Association (ABA) as its liasion to USCIS for the development of the next generation e-filing system for immigration benefits. I represent the American Immigration Lawyers Association Arizona Chapter as its liaison to USCIS to combat the unauthorized practice of law by untrained notarios who often destroy the lives of immigrants through incompetence and lack of training.
I have served on the governing body of the ABA Section of Science and Technology Law, was one of the founders and later Chairman of LegalXML, a technology body for law within the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), which is an international, not-for-profit consortium for technology standards. A more detailed listing of my professional activities and speaking engagements can be found at this Internet page: .
I believe that Internet solutions can help improve the quality and lower the cost of delivery of legal services to the public. I have developed an Affidavit of Support Calculator(tm) to help applicants for permanent residency to quickly determine if their petitioner's income can qualify, which is available for free on my law firm's website:
I developed an Internet program to help analyze quickly the chances for obtaining deferred action by young immigrant children who were brought by their parents unlawfully to the United States, and made the beta version available for free to community organizations and legal aid services helping to complete paperwork to obtain DACA benefits.
I am married and have four grown children who are actively engaged in their own careers.
I get real satisfaction in having clients obtain their immigrant benefits.

Recommendation for attorney John Messing
Mr. Messing listened and patiently answered all the questions my wife and I had about the immigration process. He did an excellent job helping us complete and submit the immigration documents and prepare us for the immigration interview.

Top choice for Tucson residents!
My same-sex spouse sponsored me for a green card as soon DOMA became unconstitutional. John, was very prompt to return my call himself in order to get some info about the case and let me know whether he could help us and whether we should go ahead with a consultation. After some thinking, we went...
"John Messing is a great attorney, not only because of his analytic skills but because of his dedication to his clients. I know this because I have had the opportunity to work with him on various cases. He takes the time to really think through every aspect of a client's case. His policy of giving each client the personal attention they deserve and treating them as he would like to be treated is the foundation upon which he bases a relationship with each client that comes through his door. He has served as a mentor to me but most importantly, he serves as an example of how honor and respect can still be found the legal profession."
"John is one of the best appellate lawyers and legal minds I have ever met. He is hard working, meticulous and tenacious. I admire his abilities and humanity. A true professional."
