I've been an immigration lawyer for over 15 years and I've learned that no matter what I do, some people are just never satisfied and just unreasonable. This was an initial consultation. Person's appointment was at 930 but I mistakenly inputted as 1030am. According to receptionist, client arrived at 930am sharp, asked for me but did not give her name or number, just said I'm here for Ms. Ross. Then she literally waited only 10 minutes then stormed out of the office saying I guess I'll just have to find another lawyer. Called person and apologized, got her in same day and gave $50 discount for the inconvenience. I spent over an hour discussing three different options with client put in writing with pros and cons of each with prices and processing time. Client asked, 'What would you do if you were me?" Told client as a lawyer I can only give you advice, and because I am not you, a spouse, a parent or friend there's no way I can know your personal situation in just one meeting to make a decision for you. Recommended she talk to her family to help her decide and to consider her risk tolerance, urgency, economic ect as I outlined for each option and could contact me if still had questions at no extra charge.
