Gary L Rohlwing

When I first saw Mr. Rohlwing concerning a criminal case I was arrested for I was scared to my core. I had never been arrested for anything before. I was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (my car) against teenage boys I had a restraining order on that had assaulted my teenage da...ughter and constantly harassed my daughter and myself. We were in my vehicle in the neighborhood stopped for a school bus. When the bus left the boys stayed standing in the middle of the road talking to friends in the car. The verbal assaults started from these boys while we were in our vehicle. One put his head in the car window passenger side where my daughter was sitting. She got angry and jumped out of the vehicle after this guy who was 6 foot tall, 200 lbs and 16 years old. I backed out of the roadway to get my daughter back in the vehicle, I was 4 months pregnant at the time. When I parked my vehicle I got out to get my daughter. This 6 foot tall 200 lb teenager started after me 5'1 160 lbs. When my daughter got back into our vehicle we went straight home peeling out and called the police. These teenage boys told the police I was all over the (rounded curb) sidewalk trying to hit them with my vehicle. Unfortunately the one witness we had was scared of these boys and refused to testify for my. The policeman came to my house and started asking me questions as if I were guilty of doing something. I didn't like the way things were going with his questions. He (the policeman) then said I was being accused of something. He refused to tell me what I was being accused of then arrested me because I invoked my constitutional rights of not speaking without an attorney present. When I got the copy of the police report the policeman said I left a 15 foot skidmark on the sidewalk. Well, the day after it happened I had taken video of the sidewalk and the street with street signs to identify the area and gave it to Mr. Rohlwing. He said this video would help my case. But because I didn't have a witness to come forward for me but only the word against me from these boys (5 total), it would be difficult to go to trial and get a not guilty verdict which would mean 6 to 10 years in prison and a felon. Gary Rohlwing suggested I take one of three plea bargains offered to me. He told me to take the plea bargain that would reduce the charge to "Disorderly Conduct" but would put me in jail for 30 days, 3 years community service, drop to a misdemeanor, and be set aside after a certain amount of time, so I took that plea bargain. Seven years later I hired him to have the charges set aside. I received a letter saying the charges were dismissed but the disorderly conduct charge is still on the case in the computer not set aside or dismissed. I called Mr. Rohling and left him a message about it and he never got back to me. The disorderly charges are still there and in the computer for everyone to see. He never completed the job and never got back to me. He was never consoling, but very cold. It's been 17 years since all this has happened and has negatively impacted my life. I paid him to help me and I don't feel he helped me as much as he could have, and ignored me. He worked for the prosecutor in the past, so I wonder if it was a scenario between the prosecutor and Mr. Rohlwing where "you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back" everyone wins, except me the client.

When I chose Gary Rohlwing as my advocate, I was scared to death about facing the consequences of my own foolishness. In our first meeting, Mr. Rohlwing agreed to take my case, eased my fears, and laid out a plan for dealing with the difficult situation that I was in. As the case unfolded, Gary was... there every step of the way. He did what he said he would do. In the end, the case turned out as well as I could have expected. I would recommend Gary Rohlwing to any potential client, and I would rehire him again if the situation should arise.

The day after I was arrested for DUI, I called Mr. Rohlwing to represent. From the first phone call, Mr. Rohlwing was sincere and I always felt better after each time I spoke with him. I never once got the feeling he wasn't invested in my interests, was just there to collect a check, or any other s...naky lawyer stereotype. He pursued every option available to get my case dismissed but never gave me false promises, and he personally kept me informed at every turn of the process. I look back and can really appreciate that I always knew what I should expect at each step of the ordeal and that he handled each and every step of the process so I could continue to live with as little strain on my work schedule. It goes without saying that after getting arrested was one of the worst times of my life, but I don't even want to imagine how difficult it would have been without all of Gary's help. It also goes without saying that I hope to never need legal services again, but if I do he'll be the first person I call.

Mr. Rohlwing was from start to finish attentive, informative, thorough, non judgmental and kept me from loosing my mind throughout the entire process. He was always organized and appeared in court to speak on my behalf. If I didn't find and hire Mr. Rohlwing when I did my life would be completely d...ifferent right now. God willing I am never in a situation like I was, but if so I would immediately call Gary Rohlwing.

If I did not know better I would have thought I wrote the previous negative reviews since they were almost identical to our situation. Initially Mr. Rohlwing came across as a compassionate and caring attorney. He gave you hope to what appeared to be a dire situation. However that compassion and ho...pe soon faded once Mr. Rohlwing received all $5,000 upfront as requested. He stated he wiould personally appear at all court appearances. Not true. Out of a total of six court appearances Mr. Rohwing appeared at only three. Not to mention, out of the three he was late for one due to not knowing the correct court room to appear in. Mr. Rohlwing did not even attempt to provide any form of legal defense for our son. We did all the legal search by internet and told Mr. Rohlwing what we wanted done. Thanks to 'our' persistence our son came out better than some of the previous reviewers did. If it were not too late to do so, I would report Mr. Rohwing to the Arizona State Bar Association. Please, heed all previous reviews when considering Mr. Rohlwing for representation. I find the glowing review difficult to believe with this attorney. If you do retain Mr. Rohlwing, get everything down on paper and ask for receipts, which by law is to be provided to you.
