In his Immigration practice, Mr. Ortega advises and represents school districts and private clients in matters before the United State Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), the Department of State, and the Department of Homeland Security. He represents school districts and corporations in sponsoring foreign national professionals for employment-based non-immigrant and immigrant visas (“green cards”). His practice is focused on nonimmigrant visas such as the H, J, L, E, and P visas.
Mr. Ortega attended Arizona Summit Law School where he was the recipient of the Raul Castro Scholarship and graduated cum Laude. Prior to completing his legal education, Mr. Ortega was a teacher at a Phoenix junior high school. He taught 7th and 8th grade language arts and structured English Immersion classes. Mr. Ortega was also an athletic director and coach during his teaching career. Mr. Ortega has written an article, H.B. 2563 The Bible in Arizona Schools – A Constitutional Analysis, which was published in Volume 6, Phoenix Law Review, 805 (2013).
Mr. Ortega began his legal career working at the Arizona Court of Appeals as a law clerk for the Honorable John C. Gemmill. While in law school, he prosecuted six bench trials and a DUI jury trial for the City of Phoenix Prosecutor’s Office.
