Attorney Matthew Black earned his B.S. in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Northern Arizona University. After working at a premier family law firm in California as a litigation assistant he decided attended Arizona Summit Law School. During law school, Matthew earned many achievements and accolades. He earned CALI Excellence for the Future awards for his Pretrial & Trial Practice courses. He also was the teaching assistant for the Family Law Clinic and Constitutional Law I & II courses. Matthew graduated law school magna cum laude, was ranked fifth overall in his class, and received the Shirly L. Mays Serving the Underserved Award in recognition for his pro bono work.
Upon graduation, Matthew began representing victims of crime in both criminal and civil proceedings. Thereafter, he accepted a position as a Deputy County Attorney for the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases. Additionally, he worked within the civil division where he successfully defended Yavapai County against civil suits and provided contractual and general legal advice to elected officials.
