Such a sorry excuse for a BIA

I had a very similar experience with Amy Alexander as the Best Interests Attorney in my custody case as the person did below. In my experience, I did not feel that a thorough or balanced investigation was conducted before recommendations were made that had a significant impact on my relationship ...with my child. I was never given a meaningful interview or opportunity to fully present my concerns, and I do not believe the records and evidence I had available were adequately reviewed before conclusions were reached. From my perspective, information provided by one parent appeared to receive much more weight than information from the other. I was left questioning whether all available evidence—including medical records, school records, and other relevant documentation—was fully considered before recommendations were made. A Best Interests Attorney has an incredibly important role because judges often rely heavily on their recommendations. Parents deserve to know that every reasonable effort has been made to investigate both sides fairly, verify information, speak with relevant witnesses, and review all available evidence before making recommendations that affect a child's life. My experience left me feeling that the investigation was incomplete and that important information was overlooked. Regardless of which parent ultimately prevails, every family deserves an objective, thorough, and impartial investigation centered on the child's best interests. DO NOT HIRE HER!!! OR IF SHE IS APPOINTEDGET AWAY FROM HER ASAP. She encouraged father to cut off all contact between mother and child. mother and child went to a safe place and she disclosed the address to father and he showed up with police and forcibly removed the child.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
