Ernest J. Calderon II is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive courtroom experience in civil litigation and military justice. As the Founding Partner of Calderon Barton, he leads his firm handling every kind of personal injury claim but focuses on medical malpractice, birth injury, nursing home abuse and neglect, catastrophic personal injury, and wrongful death. Committed to advocating for victims and their families, Mr. Calderon handles complex, high-stakes cases from intake through trial ensuring clients receive the compensation they deserve for injuries caused by negligence.
His practice spans Arizona, New Mexico, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Prior to founding Calderon Barton in March 2019, Mr. Calderon served as the primary litigator at a branch of a national personal injury law firm. As lead counsel on all cases proceeding to jury trial, he handled exclusively high-value claims involving catastrophic injuries and death across multiple states.
EXPERIENCE
Mr. Calderon's legal acumen was honed during his distinguished military career. From 2007 to 2014, he served on active duty as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, holding progressively senior roles across multiple installations. During this period of active service, he had the honor of deploying to serve his country in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom.
Before law school, Mr. Calderon served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2004 and deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in support of detainee operations after the September-11 attacks on our nation.
While maintaining a full-time civilian practice litigating complex civil cases, Mr. Calderon continues to serve his community, state, and nation as a Judge Advocate in the Air National Guard, where he currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
His military experience has honed his abilities in high-stakes litigation, thorough case preparation, and persuasive argumentation—skills that empower him to achieve strong results for clients through effective negotiation or vigorous trial advocacy.
Mr. Calderon earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2007, where he represented the university in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America trial competition and the National Trial Competition. He was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for excellence in trial competition. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Pensacola Christian College (2000).
