Biography
I am a partner with the law firm Udall Shumway PLC in Mesa, Arizona. I focus my practice primarily in the area of education law, representing school districts and charter schools throughout the State. In addition to my time at Udall Shumway, I have served as an in-house legal counsel and as the general counsel for three school districts. I have experience providing legal advice and representation to school districts on a broad range of matters including, but not limited to, special education, student discipline, student rights, employment matters, Open Meeting Law, public records, policy review, contracts, and governing board liability issues. I have conducted many in-service training programs on a variety of topics, such as the IDEA, Section 504, staff ethics, public records, student records, bullying, hazing, student discipline, and child abuse reporting guidelines. Additionally, I have presented a variety of seminars for the National Business Institute, MEDS-PDN, and the Arizona School Boards Association.
