Roger D Smith

My practice centers on the family. I specialize in all types of family law matters including divorce, estate planning and representing small business owners. My practice has served my clients and the community for more than thirty-five years. I began my legal career as a law clerk to Judge Jack L Ogg of the Arizona Court of Appeals, and then as a trial attorney for the United States Government. I served as a judge pro tem for the Maricopa County Superior Court for more than fifteen years. I am a member of both the Arizona and Illinois State Bar Associations, as well as the federal district courts in Arizona, Tennessee and Wisconsin. I am a cum laude graduate of DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, where I was both an editor of the Law Review and a member of the National Moot Court Team. I receive my undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from UCLA, where I was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I am involved in a wide variety of family and community activities including coaching high school football for many years. I believe in working hard and playing hard. When time permits I can usually be found enjoying Arizona’s many outdoor activities. I believe an important aspect of protecting my clients and their families is through estate planning. I listen to my clients’ hopes and dreams for themselves and their families’ future. I prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills, thereby providing for my client’s financial future and the futures of their loved ones. At other times, I am called upon to handle probate matters and will contests. I also specialize in all types of family law matters, including divorce, legal separation, custody, child support, spousal maintenance, contempt, property agreements, prenuptial agreements and orders of protection. These matters can be some of the most important legal tests any person may ever face. I am available to guide my clients through whatever challenges come their way. My goal is to earn your trust.
