Federal Criminal Charges

I was charged with illegal importation of a controlled substance. This was a federal charge and this was my first offense. I never had to hire a lawyer before. Like anyone else, you google attorney’s and search through long lists and read reviews. Reviews are pretty much the only thing that separates... the people advertising their services. I was recommended Suzuki Law Firm and they had a good rating. Josh was assigned my case because he was a federal prosecutor and has a lot of experience. I didn’t have a good experience with the Suzuki Law firm, said everything you want to hear, billed for crazy things, and didn’t do anything. Josh left Suzuki and has his own firm now. Josh was consistent and clear through the process. He answered my calls and questions. I didn’t understand how serious my charge was or anything about the process. I hoped things would get resolved quickly. The court process is not quick and the outcome of cases depends solely on the prosecuting attorney. Since every prosecutor handles cases different a big part of having a good outcome depends on your attorney’s relationships, timing, and experience with the system. This is what you should look and be willing to pay for. This is what Josh has. I can say he genuinely cared how my case played out and never tried to pressure or sell me on his services. We talked like normal people and he explained things clearly. He didn’t promise me anything, he just real. Josh tried a lot of different alternatives to prosecution. My prosecutor considered them, at times they seemed like they would work, but were denied. Josh kept working my case and talked me through things. I kind of gave up thinking there could be a positive outcome for my case. Federal cases have harsh prison sentences and about a 96% success rate when prosecuted at trial. My best hope was maybe they’d offer me a plea bargain. I have kids and a good job, never interacted with law enforcement so the idea of prison and a felony record is pretty terrible. When I kind of lost hope, Josh kept working and figuring things out. When my case got close to a scheduled pre-trial date, he drove a few hours and made a huge calculated effort to get me a more positive outcome. I didn’t ask or hound him to do it. Most lawyers wouldn’t know how, when, or have a big incentive to make this effort. Josh and the prosecutor worked out having my case dismissed. I was shocked. I’m still shocked. Not because dropping the charge is unbelievable, but because the type of experience and person it takes to make this happen. It makes me emotional to think about now, it is several months later I’m writing this. I’m grateful for Josh. I’ve been wanting to write this, because the criminal process is hard. Finding the right lawyer is hard. I read every review and it felt like there wasn’t enough to make a decision. I hope this gives people in similar situations information to make an informed decision.

Awesome Attorney

My friend was facing prison on multiple charges. Mr. Kolsrud was able to get his bond reduced and got him out of jail. It took him about six months to fight his case. He was able to negotiate probation for him. Really grateful for his efforts.

NOT GUILTY!

NOT GUILTY! The police entrapped me with a solicitation of prostitution charge. I hired Josh Kolsrud and was very satisfied. He treated me like I was his only client, always calling or texting me back. Josh took my case to trial and the jury acquitted in 5 minutes! Thank you Josh!!!

Excellent & Sincere care

I found Mr. Kolsrud to be forthcoming and genuine upon meeting with him. I was going through an extremely tenuous period & found security with initial visit. As promised, Mr. Kolsrud put forth exceptional effort to meet the best outcome in my situation. Although he may not have been cognizant of m...y emotional being, he was in tune enough to keep me aware of situations when I felt lost as if aware. The fact that he was able to obtain the preeminent result astounds me and I am beyond grateful for his efforts and time. I believe that if all litigators presented & performed as he did for me, we would have a higher degree of admiration as he is phenomenal.
