All about the money, not the client

If you have an endless supply of money then this is the firm for you. I hired Fillmore Spencer after my original attorney suddenly passed away in the middle of my divorce. Bad mistake. I had been going through many personal difficulties and challenges in my life and wasnt really in a place to properl...y make the best decisions and realize that I was being taken advantage of. I had gone through 11 years of abuse from my husband and was not in a good place. I was trying to rebuild ny life. That being said, Scott p. Card did obtain my divorce finally after many delays and what felt like and was a very long time. For that, I was extremely relieved. Here is where the problem came in. In my divorce, which the terms could have and should have been much more favorable in my part i was awarded half of his retirement plan from his company which he was fully vested. They call it a QDRO. Qualified Domestic Relations Order. Fillmore Spencer and Scott P. Card assigned it to the department that handled these things. Stephanie (who is no longer there I believe) was in charge of taking care of this. I soent countless hours on the phone with fillmore Spencer and Scott P. Card. Of which, every single time, i got a bill for the time i spent trying to get answers to what the status of the QDRO was and why we couldn't get it straightened out. I kept getting excuses such as they couldnt find the correct corporation, was gettinh the run around from their end, etc., etc. In the neantime, im still getting billed. To make a long story a little shorter, due to Fillmore Spencer and Scott P. Card milking this out for all it was worth, my house that my ex husband was living in was forclosed on and i still have not received the money from the QDRO. 5 years later. I have spent the last 6 months sending repeated emails to Scott P. Card personally and to his secretary. I have not gotten one response. Unprofessional. If anyone out there can give me any advice on how to proceed and get this situation starightened out, I would be most grateful. Thank you.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
