Paul Roger Maxfield

Estate planning is the practice area I chose specifically, not one I fell into. After graduating from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU in 2010, I built my practice exclusively around helping Utah families protect what they have worked for and prepare for what they cannot predict.

My clients come to me at some of the most important moments of their lives: welcoming a new child, blending two families after a second marriage, building a business, facing a serious diagnosis, or simply recognizing that they have put off planning long enough. My job is to make the process straightforward and to create documents that actually do what my clients intend.

I focus exclusively on estate planning and related areas: wills, revocable living trusts, powers of attorney, advance health care directives, disability planning, asset protection, charitable giving, prenuptial and marital property agreements, probate, and trust administration. Estate planning is all I do. I do not handle litigation, criminal matters, or other practice areas.

Before law school, I spent several years in business, including serving as CFO of a logistics company. That background informs how I work with business owners and families with significant assets. I understand balance sheets, business succession, and the financial consequences of planning - and of failing to plan.

I hold a J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Laws School ag Brigham Young University, an MBA from Western Governors University, and a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. I served as President of the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council in 2015.

My office is in Provo. I serve clients throughout Utah County and the surrounding area, and I offer a free 30-minute consultation for anyone who would like to discuss their situation.
