Derek T Marshall

Derek T. Marshall is a business, real-estate, non-profit, and estate planning attorney. He advises businesses and their owners on the various legal issues and provides legal services that commonly arise in today’s business climate, including: business formation and planning, employment and independent contractor issues, contract negotiation and drafting, real and personal property leases, business restructuring, corporate and partnership governance, financing, business sales and acquisitions.

Derek assists and advises in the formation of non-profit organizations, including completion of necessary IRS applications to obtain tax-exemption. He advises non-profit organizations regarding corporate governance, operations, and compliance with state and IRS requirements.

Derek also enjoys assisting individuals and families, whether their estates are large or small, properly plan for the future through developing personalized estate plans using various estate planning instruments.

He earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Oregon School of Law located in Eugene, Oregon, and his B.A. degree in History from Brigham Young University. While at the University of Oregon, he was a senior editor for the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation and served as tax research assistant involving real estate issues.

Derek was raised and attended school in Orem, Utah, and returned to Orem to live with his wife, daughter and twin boys. In addition to trying to keep up with his energetic children and wife, Derek’s hobbies include playing basketball and golf; working in his yard and garden; reading the occasional historical novel, and following the BYU and Oregon’s sports teams.
