I attended law school in the "Watergate," era and wanted to protect the freedoms that so many of fought to protect. My first job was as a Deputy District Attorney in California. In the first month I had tried over half a dozen criminal matters to a twelve person jury. In the first year I had completed over 48 jury trials and was promoted to felony trials in my second year. By my fourth year I was assigned and tried murder cases. In my fifth year I moved back to Utah and was retained to represent capital homicide defendants in the Salt Lake Legal Defender's Association office. I completed five years with that office and tried several capital homicide cases.
In 1985 I was hired by the Salt Lake District Attorney's office and tried Mark Hoffman for multiple murder, forgery and theft.
In 1987 I was hired by the Orange County Public Defender's office to try, exclusively, capital homicides and completed several such trials in the next eleven years.
I returned to Utah to become the Assistant Director of the Salt Lake Legal Defender's office and stayed in that position until I left to form my own private practice in 2004. In 2013 I joined forces with my last partner: Matthew Jefferson. We are trying criminal cases and representing people who have had their constitutional rights questioned by the state.
