Ryan Douglas McConnell

Ryan McConnell is a trial lawyer and the founder of R. McConnell Group PLLC, a trial firm that represents companies, boards and executives. He works from the firm’s Park City, Utah, office.

He has tried nearly twenty federal jury cases. He served as lead trial counsel in United States v. Rovirosa, the Trump Justice Department’s first cartel FCPA case. In April 2026, a federal judge in Houston dismissed the indictment and acquitted his client on all counts.

He serves as the court-approved independent compliance consultant to the National Rifle Association. He also advises boards and senior executives on governance issues that arise from criminal and regulatory matters.

He served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Houston and Louisiana, including with the Organized Crime Strike Force. He later became a partner at three international law firms. He began his career at Shearman & Sterling and clerked for Judge John C. Godbold of the Eleventh Circuit. He taught corporate compliance and governance at the University of Houston Law Center for ten years.

In September 2026, Global Investigations Review shortlisted him for Investigations Professional of the Year.

He holds bar admissions in Utah, Texas and New York.
