Evan A Schmutz

With more than 30 years of experience, Evan A. Schmutz is one of the State’s most highly sought after and respected commercial and business dispute litigators.  He has extensive courtroom and appellate experience in state and federal courts.

Mr. Schmutz has tried over 30 cases to jury verdict, has conducted over 100 bench trials and has recovered judgments and settlements for clients in excess of $20 million. He has tried cases both to a jury and to the bench lasting longer than two months.  Mr. Schmutz has successfully defended jury trials and bench trials on behalf of business clients where the claims exceeded more than $100 million. His defense of business clients targeted by the FTC has been notable not only for its success but also for legal precedent established.  He also has experience in a wide variety of civil litigation fields including contracts and business torts, bank litigation, Direct Sale Marketing litigation, insurance coverage disputes, construction dispute, defense of workplace discrimination claims, trade secret and intellectual property litigation and securities fraud.

Mr. Schmutz has litigated extensively on business valuation claims related to business dissolutions, and has represented and guided Direct Sale Companies in their relations with independent distributors.  Evan has experience representing a diverse range of business and education based companies, including car dealers, Charter Schools and remote learning companies.
