Highest recommendation

Steve Wieland and his firm, Mooney Wieland, represented me in a matter starting in 2015 and finishing in December 2018. I am a professional and run a small business. The matter regarded a big business refusing to pay for an emergency service already rendered, which could not be repossessed, and wit...h an excellent outcome. The law specifically stated that we were on sound legal grounds, but it is very difficult and time consuming to get someone to actually write a check. When they will not, there is no other legal recourse but to sue. In this case, Steve Wieland and others from his firm were on top of the matter throughout the entire process, and he clearly bested a senior attorney from one of Boise's bigger firms who represented the billion dollar corporation. He anticipated legal moves and obscure legal and procedural arguments from the other side, and was ready to counter these arguments with rationale that completely debunked them. The case went to trial, and the verdict was a complete victory. The corporation had the right to appeal, but after a year an a half chose not to because they were sure they would lose. All in all, I am not a big fan of the legal process, but it was fun punching an 800 pound gorilla in the nose. Steve's fees were very reasonable, especially considering the amount of work that went into this case over a two and a half year timeline. In short I would recommend Steve Wieland and the firm Mooney Wieland very highly for similar matters.

Conscientious, thorough and effective

During a complimentary consultation, after explaining the case for which I was seeking an attorney for assistance, based on the amount of the damages being sought, he believed the case would be heard in small claims court (I did not have the case number with me at the time of the call). He further a...dded there most likely would be mediation before the hearing, and that attorneys are not allowed in small claims court and to pay him a retainer to hold hands would be a waste of my money. He guided me to where I could find forms to file an "answer", surprised they hadn't been attached to the summons and gave me confidence this could be handled easily. He then added that should things change, to call him back and we could talk more at that time. It turned out that this case was NOT a small claims court case, with no chance of mediation, and included a filing fee and depending on outcome, opposing attorney fees. I called him back and he agreed to be retained, (although I knew this was not going to generate much income for his services), and quickly went to work. He managed to get a reasonable settlement out of court, dismissal with prejudice, meaning the plaintiff could not come "back for more" later, and ensured there would be no negative credit bureau reporting. In all of this, he was extremely pleasant, honest and forthcoming and I would recommend him to anyone in need of legal assistance within his field of practice. I feel so fortunate that I found him (through the bar search, and checking his rating on AVVO). He exceeded my expectations in every aspect of this situation and so say I am pleased is an understatement.
