John Stanley McGown Jr.

My tax practice is broad, ranging from tax planning to disputes to tax-exempt organizations. I have taught graduate tax courses in state taxation, tax-exempt organizations, personal financial planning and partnership tax. I chaired the Idaho Tax Practitioner Liason Committee to the Internal Revenue Service. I try to solve my clients' tax problems.

I twice taught Estate Planning at the University of Idaho College of Law. I am a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (see actec.org). I also am certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist by the Estate Law Speicialist Board, an organization accredited by the American Bar Association. I use my skills and experience to help clients accomplish their estate planning goals.

I use my tax and estate palnning skills and experience to help clients through the probate process in a tax efficient manner. I often work with clients' CPAs in this process.

LLCs generally are taxed as partnerships under the Internal Revenue Code. I have taught Partnership Tax three times at the graduate level, most recently at the University of Idaho College of Law. My primary focus is on the tax issues of LLCs.
