Daniel Joseph Skinner

Dan Skinner is a native Idahoan who chose law after a successful career advocating for the protection of Idaho’s wildlands. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon in 1993, and a Masters Degree in nonfiction writing from Boise State University in 1998. While at Boise State, he was the Environmental Editor for the student newspaper. After eight years of environmental advocacy, he returned to school and attended the University of Idaho College of Law. While there, he was the Editor in Chief of the Student Bar Association weekly newspaper. He finished his law degree as a clerk in the externship program for the Honorable Judge Boyle at the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.

After externing for Judge Boyle, he worked for three years for the Canyon County and Ada County Public Defenders’ offices before joining Cantrill, Skinner, Lewis, Casey and Sorensen.

His practice now focuses on education law, workers compensation, and criminal defense.  

Dan spends his free time with his wife and young family traipsing across Idaho’s wildlands hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, and skiing.  He also donates a significant amount of his time to advocating for equal rights for all Idahoans.
