Bill is an attorney first admitted to practice law in 1987. He is a member of the Wyoming Bar Association; the Colorado Bar Association (inactive); the Arizona Bar Association (inactive); the International WHO'S WHO of Professionals; the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals which recognized Bill as one of America’s Registery’s Top 10 Members in Law for 2009; WealthCounsel, a national association of estate planning attorneys; and Lawyers With Purpose, a national association of Medicaid Planning Attorneys.
The first nearly eight years of Mr. Winter’s legal career were spent prosecuting felony criminal cases in Phoenix, Arizona, specializing in complex criminal prosecutions, wiretap cases, gang and repeat offender cases, drug and methamphetamine laboratory cases.
Since that time, Bill has spent his career helping families create powerful, loving and lasting estate plans; helping business owners, farmers and ranchers arrange their business affairs in significant and meaningful ways and to plan so that they can leave their businesses in style; and helping families salvage their life savings from the ravages of Medicaid and nursing home costs.
Bill is a popular and vibrant speaker who has taught government officials, employees of financial institutions, CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals, as well as business owners and the public at large in hundreds of meetings, workshops, seminars, and executive briefings since 1995.
Bill is a published author and authority contributing to the books LEGACY: Plan, Protect and Preserve Your Estateand GENERATIONS: Planning Your Legacy; he was a contributing reviewer and author of an estate planning periodical that was known as Conspectus Current,which later became Cutting Edge Current, an internet publication; and he was a creator of, and was the talent for the majority of Wyoming PBS’s 13 part televised estate planning series entitled LEAVE A LEGACY, including among others An Estate Planning Introduction; Trust-Based Planning – What Is It?; Business Exit Planning – Leaving Your Business in Style; and Sophisticated Estate Planning – Planning Techniques of the Rich and Famous.
Mr. Winter is a Christian, and a family man married to his college sweetheart and the proud father of two fine young men. Bill’s passions include theology, politics, economics, and baseball.
