Sheila Ford is the newest member of our criminal defense team, bringing a variety of civil and criminal litigation experience to our firm.
Sheila attended the University of Texas, where she served as an advisor in the Student Government Association and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Sheila then attended law school at the University of Houston where she was a member of Phi Delta Phi, an international legal honor society and the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States.
While in law school, Sheila was introduced to criminal law as an intern in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office of White-Collar Crime. After law school, she represented working men and women in lawsuits related to their physical injuries from exposure to asbestos. This was rewarding work and Sheila did everything to make the court process as smooth and easy as possible for her clients. When the asbestos litigation ended Sheila practiced family law, representing people going through proceedings in divorce, child custody, child support and paternity. Sheila worked six years as a Texas Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division where she helped families enter into domestic orders for the benefit of their children.
Throughout her career, Sheila has focused on protecting the rights of her clients. While she has an understanding of multiple areas of the law, she has a demonstrated passion for protecting our Civil Rights. She served as President of the Fort Worth ACLU and ran for elected office in Texas.
