Megan Hottman earned her B.A. in Corporate Communications, magna cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate, both from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. In college, Hottman volunteered as a CASA (Court-appointed special advocate). Realizing she wanted to help others as a career, she decided to become a lawyer. During law school, she worked as an intern for a solo practitioner and also for the Douglas County Attorney's Office (civil division). These jobs gave her a taste of the profession and more importantly, through her wonderful mentors and teachers, positively oriented her sense of professionalism and responsibility.
After law school, Hottman accepted two consecutive judicial clerkships. The first in Jackson County Circuit Court in Kansas City and the second in Jefferson County District Court in Golden. As a judicial law clerk, Hottman was responsible for drafting judicial orders, doing legal research for the judges, and serving as bailiff during jury trials. Hottman then joined a small firm in Boulder, where she gained valuable experience working on large consumer fraud mass actions, as well as individual personal injury cases.
In 2010, she started Hottman Law Office (HLO), aka "," which she says, "is the perfect combination of passion and profession - love of cycling and legal education culminated in this practice -I'm doing what I was meant to do." In addition to representing her own clients, she also works as a consultant with several Colorado plaintiff's firms. She has been endorsed as a cycling expert by other lawyers.

Bike Vs Car Accident
I was the victim of a bike vs. car accident back in September, and am so appreciative of Megan for handling the outcome for me.The accident left me injured, out of work, and with a stack of medical bills. My Initial thought was not to get a lawyer, I figured the responsible parties would be reasonabl...

A Calming Presence Throughout a Stressful Situation
I contacted Megan after being struck by a vehicle while commuting to work. I downplayed my injuries even after taken to the ER in an ambulance. All I wanted was to get better. Later that night when unable to sleep I decided to contact Ms Hottman. Filing a lawsuit was not on my mind at the time - I ha...
"Megan is an excellent attorney who is well respected in the legal community. I would not hesitate to recommend her for any personal injury matter."
"Megan Hottman is an awesome attorney. She is extremely thorough and very dedicated to her clients. She is also the expert in Colorado when it comes to cyclists involved in accidents."
"I endorse Megan Hottman. I hired her as a consultant and expert witness on a cycling roadway accident case I was handling. I would not hesitate to use her again and would recommend her as counsel to handle any and all cycling injury or car accident cases."
"I admire Ms. Hottman's combination of her true passion, cycling, with her profession. She is as dedicated to her clients as any attorney can be. Because of her niche practice and specific focus on helping injured cyclists, she is precisely in tune with representing fellow cyclists and couldn't be more personally aware of the unique injuries and needs of cyclists. She is absolutely the go-to authority for bicycling law. I would not refer any injured bicyclist to anyone else!"
