Michael Timothy Mihm

Michael Mihm is a founder of Ogborn Mihm LLP, a trial law firm focusing on high-stakes lawsuits likely to go to trial.  We pride ourselves on our courtroom skills and our ability to try any case, regardless of size or complexity. We have experience with hundreds of jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations.

Michael’s unique trial practice focuses on representing plaintiffs in legal malpractice lawsuits.  Michael's trial teams have recovered some of the largest legal malpractice jury verdicts and settlements in the U.S.  Michael is a Past President of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), an approximately 1300 member organization for plaintiff and consumer trial lawyers in Colorado.  Michael has been selected as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocacy (ABOTA).

Expertise in Legal Malpractice Litigation.  Michael has handled hundreds of legal malpractice cases in his career.  He is one of the few plaintiffs' attorneys in the United States to be certified as a specialist in legal malpractice law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.  Since 2005, Michael has served as managing editor of Lawyers' Professional Liability in Colorado, 2017 Ed. (Michael T. Mihm ed., CLE in Colorado, Inc., 2017).  This two-volume, 57-chapter treatise, updated annually, focuses on lawyers' professional liability and legal ethics issues. Michael wrote or co-wrote 6 chapters in the book.  He is a frequent speaker and author on lawyers' professional liability and trial practice matters.

Business Ligation.  Michael also has a significant business and corporate litigation practice. Michael's business litigation often involves claims arising from breach of contract, corporate control, oil and gas transactions, real estate disputes, oppression of minority business owners, trade secrets, theft of intellectual property, computer fraud, and claims arising from breaches of fiduciary duty and other misconduct by company insiders.

Personal Injury Litigation.  While most of Michael's practice focuses on legal malpractice or business litigation, Michael also personally tries select medical malpractice, wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases.  Michael's law firm, Ogborn Mihm LLP, represents clients in a significant number of such cases. Indeed, Michael's firm recently obtained a $100 million settlement in a products liability claim arising from a helicopter crash.  .
