M. David Johnson

M. David Johnson is one of the Denver region’s leading litigators, with cases including custody disputes, divorce actions, partition of property, and child support actions. He brings a strong commitment to his clients and an outstanding record of success.

A former member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Board of Governors, officer and director of a local bar association, former special Inventory Counsel for the Office of Attorney Regulation, and respected mediator, Mr. Johnson is an experienced attorney actively involved in the Denver legal community.

Mr. Johnson was born in Leadville, Colorado, and was raised in the Denver area. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he was actively involved in a wide range of student issues and was a volunteer swimming coach for handicapped kids, aged 16 and under. Mr. Johnson received his Juris Doctorate from Denver University while being employed by Texas Rural Legal Aid on behalf of victims of racial discrimination. In his spare time, he helped various handicapped children’s programs, including coaching swimming and skiing classes.

In 2008, Mr. Johnson founded Odyssey Dragons, a ski and ride club for students of Odyssey Charter School, located in Denver, Colorado. The program is designed to help elementry and middle school kids learn to love Colorado’s winter sports. One third of the Dragons memberships are reserved for free and reduced lunch students who participate on scholarship.

A Colorado native, Mr. Johnson continues to help the disadvantaged inside and outside the courtroom. He was formerly on the board of directors of local charities which provide:

• A drop-in facility for troubled high school kids;
• A health and wellness clinic with free HIV and hepatitis testing;
• The Colorado Legal Initiatives Project for indigent victims of discrimination;
• Safe-sex education and self-esteem programs at local high schools; and
• Fitness classes for handicapped kids.
• Community is important to Mr. Johnson. He believes that to be the best advocate, a lawyer should spend as much time helping outside the courtroom as he does inside.
