One of our clients came without a visa to the country and got in removal precedings and had to leave the country before waivers in the country were allowed. He just came back to The US last week with ... a residency card on his hands. His waiver got approved, his wife waited for him here and he is very happy to be back. I'm glad I was able to have him as one of my clients it was a pleasure to work with him and see the family together again.

In a decision that continues to be appealed at the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, Immigration Judge John W. Davis ordered Arturo removed instead of granting voluntary departure. While continuing in th ... e appeal process Mr. Meade sought to right the wrong by bring Arturo back from Mexico to live with his United States citizen wife and child. Although confident in the appeal process, Mr. Meade filed form I-212 with the Denver Field Office and that application was approved in less that two months. Arturo has now returned to the United States as a lawful permanent resident.

Widow of United States Citizen Murdered in Mexico Granted Lawful Resident

While awaiting final decision on her application for a waiver of inadmissibility, Tania's husband Jake Reyes decided to move to Mexico to live with his spouse. Tragically he was murdered by gang membe ... rs in Ciudad Juarez. Within a week of his murder USCIS sent Tania a notification that her waiver was denied because, in the words of the Federal Government, "when you applied for a waiver you had a United States citizen spouse, however now you don't." Shawn Meade was able to reopen the case with the consulate in Ciudad Juarez and using a little known change in immigration law convert the petition to an approved I-360 and keep the waiver pending, and later granted. Mexican Journalist Granted Political Asylum

OUTCOME: Granted political asylum

Hector Salazar fled Mexico after receiving threats and physical abuse as a result of his reports against government corruption in Mexico. After consulting multiple firms in Colorado, he hired Shawn ... Meade to present his claim for asylum with the Immigration Judge. Shawn Meade was able to demonstrate a well founded fear of persecution or torture if Mr. Salazar returned to Mexico and connected this fear with the protected ground of political opinion. The immigration judge adopted Mr. Meade's closing argument as her decision and the government attorney waived appeal. Thus making Hector Salazar only the third Mexican Journalist to be granted political asylum and Mr. Meade the first attorney in Colorado to win this type of case.
