Laura Michelle Browne

I did not have a positive experience with Laura Browne, an associate attorney with Dormer Harpring, L.L.C. She represented a patient of mine in a personal injury case. Though I had no prior experience with this law firm, I agreed to treat this patient in good faith on a lien basis. I routinely ema...iled the law office updated treatment records and ledger with no acknowledgement of their receipt. Upon settlement of the case I attempted to contact the office more than once with no response. It is customary when patient’s have been treated on a lien basis for the law office to contact the providers after settlement to verify outstanding balances and honor the liens. This did not happen for myself and, to the best of my knowledge, two other providers. It is my understanding that the two other providers attempted to reach Laura Browne multiple times with no success. With so many attempts to reach her office, Ms. Browne finally responded with a group email stating it was the patient’s responsibility to pay any outstanding medical bills. It is true that payment of outstanding bills is made either directly from the attorney’s office or by the patient personally. In this case the patient was under the impression that all his health care bills would be paid by the attorney’s office as I had a signed lien from him. The patient informed me that he was stunned and unhappy when Ms. Browne told him he had to personally take care of any outstanding health care bills. The three of us who were not paid were very fortunate that the patient is honorable and contacted us individually to work out a payment plan to honor his debt. If he had been unscrupulous there would have been a very different outcome. I personally would never do business with this law firm again nor would I refer a patient to Ms. Browne.
