I represented a Mexican restaurant in Littleton, Colorado. The local business owner was sued for trademark infringement by a Texas limited partnership over the name Mi Cocina. This was not the first su ... it the Texas Mi Cocina company had filed against a much smaller operation using some variation on "Cocina," and other restaurants have buckled to the pressure and just changed their names. So after months of legal skirmishes and mediation, the parties reached an amicable settlement: the local business (my client) gets to continue to use the Mi Cocina name in a limited area in Colorado where he has been doing business for many years.
