Lauren Roberts focuses her practice on corporate transactions and intellectual property. She has experience representing a wide variety of clients in complex transactions including multi-million dollar mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financings. In connection with her transactional experience, Ms. Roberts has conducted extensive due diligence reviews. Ms. Roberts also has years of experience with entity formation and general corporate and intellectual property matters such as trademarks and copyrights. She is familiar with both Colorado and Delaware corporate law and entity structures. She has represented many technology startups and assisted established technology companies with their day-to-day corporate governance, contract drafting and review, intellectual property protection, and later-stage financing rounds. Ms. Roberts has also represented public oil and gas companies with their daily corporate governance and large-scale debt restructurings.
Prior to starting Roberts Law, LLC, Ms. Roberts was an attorney with Roberts & Olivia, a boutique corporate firm in Boulder, and with Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti, Boulder’s largest local firm. While at Roberts & Olivia, Ms. Roberts represented a software company for its acquisition by a public company for $103 million dollars and various other mergers and acquisitions and venture capital deals. During her practice at Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti, Ms. Roberts worked on a variety of cases including anti-trust litigation, employment litigation, construction defect litigation, tort claims, insurance claims, real estate law, and estate planning.
During law school Ms. Roberts clerked for a municipal court judge, interned at the University of Colorado’s Technology Transfer Office, and was a summer intern for the Association for International Arbitration in Brussels, Belgium. While interning at the Technology Transfer Office, Ms. Roberts assisted faculty inventors with creating spin-off companies using their intellectual property and conducted royalty compliance reviews for the University. Ms. Roberts studied abroad her spring semester of her second year of law school through Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in Tokyo, Japan and interned with Refugees International Japan. Ms. Roberts was the Co-President of CU Law’s chapter of the American Constitution Society and Vice President of CU Law’s chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. Through her position with the ACLU, Ms. Roberts conducted “Know Your Rights” trainings to other students and teacher-trainings. Ms. Roberts completed her undergraduate degree at New York University with a major in history and a minor in Spanish. While at NYU she was on the equestrian team, made the Dean’s List, and received a Founder’s Day Award for academic excellence.
