Kate A. Brewer

I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of western New York and traded water for the Rocky Mountains nearly seven years ago. Although I have fond memories growing up in New York and attending nearby Cornell University for my undergraduate studies, I am proud to call Colorado my home.

I first moved to Colorado to attend the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver.  During law school, I was fortunate to have clerked for The Harris Law Firm. After gaining extensive trial experience and motions practice as a Deputy District Attorney in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, I knew I wanted to work once again in the field of family law, for The Harris Law Firm. As an attorney, there are few fields of practice where you are able to help people in such a personal way, as you are in the field of domestic relations.

In addition to representing my clients in their Colorado family law matters, I also have a passion for animal rights law. I graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science because, in my younger years, I thought I could help animals the most by pursuing a career as a Veterinarian. Although I changed my career path, my interest in helping animals continued, and I have published a paper with the Animal Legal and Historical Center concerning the use of emotional support animals under Federal Disability Law. I am an avid supporter of the Denver Dumb Friends League, and adopted a rescue dog from the DDFL two years ago, who has been a wonderful companion.
