Caleb Durling is a complex civil and commercial litigator and appellate attorney at Fox Rothschild LLP. He represents clients in the Denver metro area and nationally and bases his law practice in Denver, Colorado. For many years, Caleb has served as outside counsel to financial services corporations and public pension funds in high-stakes litigation and appeals. He has also been at the forefront of litigation and appeals involving professional sports franchises regarding a variety of underlying legal issues. Caleb’s law practice includes lecturing and he is often asked to share his insight with public pension professionals on the legal issues that their industry faces.
Caleb balances his busy trial and appellate law practice with his dedication to pro bono work. He has worked twice with the State Public Defender’s Office serving as Special Counsel for indigent defendants in criminal matters. Caleb also partnered with the Colorado Public Defender’s Office in successful pro bono litigation that secured the reform of the bond-setting procedures for indigent defendants appearing before the Denver County Court. For many years, he has been involved with a team of lawyers through the Colorado Lawyers Committee in ongoing pro bono litigation that has led to systematic improvement in the way mentally ill defendants are treated by the Colorado criminal justice system. For their pro bono work on this case, Caleb and his colleagues have received multiple awards of recognition from the Colorado Lawyers Committee.
Caleb has been named to the Colorado Super Lawyers Rising Stars list since 2013 and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He earned a B.A. in American Studies (with a minor in French) from Northwestern University and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law with honors. He began his legal career with a prestigious appellate clerkship with Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court. After clerking, Caleb was an associate and then partner at the Denver litigation firm Reilly Pozner LLP and a partner Rollin Braswell Fisher LLC. Prior to law school, Caleb taught for two years at an inner-city Atlanta elementary school through Teach for America.
