Nicole Danielle Funchess

Nicole was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to Colorado in 2021. She graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in 2018 and spent the next three years as a public defender in Louisiana. As a public defender, Nicole was in court daily defending clients against felony charges as well as parents accused of abuse and neglect. Nicole has assisted hundreds of clients charged with criminal offenses navigate the criminal justice system, and she defends her clients’ rights vigorously. Nicole has also helped parents in dependency and neglect cases regain custody and defend against termination of parental rights proceedings. In addition, she has handled dozens of contested trials, both with a jury and without. After leaving the public defender’s office and moving to Colorado, Nicole expanded her practice area to include family law and civil litigation. Nicole takes a personal approach to her cases and focuses on putting her client’s goals first and applying the law to secure the best possible outcome.

Nicole’s criminal practice includes defending against charges ranging from petty theft to first-degree murder as well as defending against probation revocation and both applying for and defending against protection orders. Nicole’s work in family law thus far includes protecting parents in dependency and neglect cases, allocation of parental rights, grandparent rights, restrictions of parenting time, divorce, and post-decree enforcement and contempt.

Nicole is admitted to practice in both Louisiana and Colorado.
