Denise Danielle Hoffman

Ms. Hoffman has a Masters in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and represents individual and organizational clients in all aspects of tax planning and controversy resolution. The primary areas of emphasis include: tax- exempt organizations, federal estate and gift tax, IRS audits and appeals, and state and local tax (including property tax and sales and use tax).

Ms. Hoffman has extensive experience in the area of tax-exempt organizations. She assists her clients as they work to resolve critical tax and business issues – both organizational and operational in nature. Ms. Hoffman generally advises exempt organizations on tax, corporate, regulatory and compliance matters and has handled projects that include: structuring affiliated business enterprises between exempt entities; advising on the proper conduct for political and lobbying activities; and negotiating tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service. These projects have been undertaken on behalf of national and international charities, schools and educational institutions, private foundations, cultural institutions, social service agencies, research organizations, trade and professional associations, social clubs, religious organizations and advocacy groups.

Ms. Hoffman also counsels clients with custom wealth and business succession planning. This work includes federal estate and gift tax analysis and compliance, counsel with respect to fiduciary duties and related disputes, transfers and sales of closely-held business interests, estate and trust administration, and charitable gifting.

Finally, Ms. Hoffman represents clients involved in federal and state tax audits and appeals. On behalf of these clients she has negotiated settlements with the IRS and state and local taxing authorities regarding income tax, sales and use tax, estate and gift tax and property tax disputes.
