I thought my divorce case would be complicated as my then husband experienced disabilities from a stroke. I also thought that a trial and court appearances were inevitable. Jae patiently and with great knowledge walked me through the required paperwork and various potential outcomes and situations ...as they came up. Jae and her team were so supportive during the process answering my many questions and quelling my doubts and worries with compassion. My case never went to trial for which I was grateful, but Jae was willing to stand by me and represent me if the divorce went to that extent. Having Jae Mundt as my attorney was a disastrous and costly mistake. If you need someone accomplished in family law - go elsewhere! Find an advocate. Jae is neither accomplished or your advocate - don’t be fooled. Complicated and emotional cases such as in the family law arena are overwhelming to ...Jae to the point of preventing her from moving forward in any direction at all. During the consultation - which I paid for - Jae promised to complete a temp parenting schedule in a week which ended up dragging on for months. Most of Jae’s time was spent chatting with the opposing counsel. Maybe she was looking for a lunch date... who knows she certainly was not working for the best interest of her client. During that time, I didn’t see my kids which was very painful. Jae wasted precious time I could have spent with my children. I don’t think she really cared at all… she was more interested in dragging out the whole affair while she overbilled and overbillled me. When I addressed her inability to get a temp parenting plan in place, she became agitated, and offended and withdrew with 24 hours’ notice. Not long after (it was the fastest thing she ever did on my case) I received two invoices from her for hours and hours of work that were redundant - how many time can you create a file in drop box?! and for phone conversations that never took place (bill padding). So basically, I was overcharged for legal services that never happened by an attorney that wasn't qualified to work in family law. In conclusion - Jae was weak and ineffective on all levels except when it came to invoicing. She took direction as a personal assault, and she seemed to have some emotional stumbling blocks lending to her inability to handle the rigors of family law. If I had not audited my invoice, I would have never noticed the gross overbilling - something just didn’t seem right or add up. How could I be billed for so many hours when months went by and nothing was accomplished - so grateful I checked my phone records. They didn’t match her billing. I recovered only a small portion of the overbilling since I tracked my phone records...the rest was just dishonesty on her part. I am thankful to be away from her. My new attorney had the parenting plan done in a week and for a fraction of the cost. BOOM! and I got to spend time with my kids almost immediately. If you are looking for an attorney that can fight for you in the trenches Jae is not your girl. The level of dishonesty and overbilling was costly on all levels. Time away from my kids and three grand later with nothing to show for it. No one needs to suffer at the hand of their attorney while going through the family court system which is devastating enough. If you need honest and effective legal counsel look elsewhere - you will be glad you did.
