If you ask my clients and colleagues, these are my hallmarks.  I have always believed that many times the client is best served by practicality at least as much as technical legal issues and their consequences.  Businesses do not exist in a tax or legal vacuum.  Nor do families!

Yes, you can try to include and fortify against every possible issue, claim or contingency in a contract; but there are PRACTICAL limits.  Yes, I can prepare an estate plan that takes into account only today's situation with your family and finances and apply the tax and other legal concerns that exist as of today.  OR, I can give you one that will be flexible for tax and family changes for years to come.  I prefer the latter; so do my clients.

FEE TRANSPARENCY: while many firms achieve efficiency by processing form documents and setting universal flat fees, I rarely utilize flat fees.   Your situation is completely different from your neighbor's or your brother-in-law's.  This is YOUR life and livelihood, it's YOUR business' and/or family's future; so I customize your legal project and documents to You and the family/community/employees that rely on you.  So the work I do for you is priced only as needed for your situation.   I listen, and I prod some questions and potential concerns from you; and then I advise and draft the appropriate contract or estate plan tailored to YOUR circumstances and your family's current or potential issues.  You will not be "processed" by a paralegal or a document system.   

But I have a good humor, too.  Heck, my former "high-rise office" was a Tree House!

*Assisting Broomfield, CO business owners plan for the tax-efficient transition out of their business and to the next generation, shareholder agreement with transfer restrictions and buy-sell provisions for the continuing shareholders; prepared estate plan that takes into account the business owners’ unique aspects of pending purchase agreement, further buy-sell provisions.

*Assisted in C-corp’s spin off of a division, preserving favorable capital gains treatment for the small-business stock upon eventual sale.

*Negotiating and drafting installment sale of Goddard School franchise in Boulder County, commercial lease re: same, and estate planning for seller clients.

*Educating and advising business-owner and estate planning client to not only improve financials in preparation for the sale of his business to key employees, but also take steps to ensure employee retention with stock bonus, non-compete/non-hire covenants. 

*Guardianship for adult child with disabilities; estate planning for parents including supplemental needs trust for same disabled child.

*Negotiated and closed sale of business line of construction service to a Fortune 500 company, and commercial lease agreement of building site to buyer/tenant.

*Advised Trustee of an irrevocable trust owning business interests as to fiduciary and beneficiary income-tax concerns, as well as generation-skipping transfer tax issues.

*Assisted with self-publication of his memoirs, assembled book tour in U.K., prepared estate plan for and administered the estate of noted, Grammy-award winning composer/conductor; involving royalties and other assets in U.S. and abroad.

Negotiated and closed sale of ophthalmology practice and interest in surgery center; updated estate plan for client owners.
