Jesus E. Cano was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. A first-generation college student, he graduated from Texas Tech University with his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law with a concentration on Intellectual Property. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
