Stephanie Townsend Allala is a veteran journalist and El Paso Elder law attorney. After two decades in radio, television, and newspaper, she took her advocacy in a different direction- helping the disenfranchised. Ms. Townsend Allala graduated from the University of Texas School of Law at Austin, where she was the Ray and Kay Bailey Hutchison Scholarship recipient. She was also Outstanding Graduate in Broadcasting at University of Texas at El Paso.
She devotes her life to public service, and has served as the President and or Director of all of the following organizations: The El Paso Women’s Bar Association, El Paso Women’s Bar Auxiliary, El Paso Bar Association, El Paso Press Club, El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, El Paso Association of Hispanic Journalists, and CASA of El Paso. She also spent four years as a Director on the Board of Nazareth Care Facility, a non-profit charitable skilled nursing facility. It was her work on the Board of Directors for Nazareth that helped her to understand the difficulties in placement of certain individuals with special capacity issues. For example, many times persons with advanced dementia, schizophrenia and chronic psychosis find themselves suddenly homeless, because there are few facilities capable of caring for people with advanced dementia and mental illness. Ms. Townsend Allala helps these families find permanent homes for their loved ones.
Ms. Townsend Allala is a proud mother of two daughters, Jessica Kludt, who is an attorney and Vice President of Townsend Allala & Associates, and Amelia Jordan, who works and studies in Los Angeles.
Stephanie’s work as advocate for a transparent, honest and open government led her to file the most famous Open Records Request now pending in Texas. It resulted in litigation which is now pending before the Texas Supreme Court, City of El Paso v. Allala. She was named El Paso/El Chuco Person of the Year for 2014 for her fight to bring honesty to El Paso government.

Great lawyer
Even during “normal times” the death of a parent is difficult enough. Our mother passed away during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made dealing with her death and financial issues even worse. Since our family had previously sought the counsel of Stephanie Townsend-Allala when my father pass...

MERP Questionnaire
My family consulted Ms. Allala concerning our Mom's estate after her passing. The State of Texas sent us a Texas Estate Recovery Program questionnaire to determine if the State of Texas had any claim against our Mom's property. Ms. Allala was extremely patient in helping us answer the questions co...

The professionalism of Stephanie and her entire staff was apparent from the moment we began to work together. Since my family and estate situation are complicated, preparing my will required that we spend a good deal of time discussing family relationships, and the structure of my international esta...
