Biography
Laura Beth Pleasant is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Energy, Economics, and Law Area at Texas Tech University. She joined the faculty full time in the Fall of 2014 while maintaining her private practice part-time at Franks & Pleasant, LLP.
Laura Beth teaches three to four sections of Business Law each semester. In addition, she co-teaches the online graduate level Business Law for the MBA and STEM MBA programs, and teaches Business Law abroad in Florence, Italy during the summer.
Laura Beth has a passion for teaching students. After graduating law school she actually returned to education, teaching law, government, and history on the high school level for a few years before starting her legal career. When she got married and returned to Lubbock she began practicing law. Working as a full-time attorney for approximately five years, she realized she missed education.
Laura Beth still enjoys practicing in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate and Guardianship law. She loves those areas of law the most because she feels like she gets to help people out at some of the most difficult times of their life. She loves getting to walk through those hard times with her clients and experience the "counselor" role of being an attorney.
Laura Beth is a wife, mom and an active member of the Lubbock Area Bar Association, the South Plains Trust and Estate Council, and Victory Life Church.
