Kristen (Vander-Plas) LaFreniere, owner and manager of Vander-Plas LaFreniere, PLLC in Lubbock, Texas, is a proud West Texan who was born and raised in Lubbock. She earned highest honors at Lubbock Christian University before graduating from Texas Tech University School of Law. Following law school, Kristen served as briefing attorney to Justice Don R. Willett at the Supreme Court of Texas, then returned home to launch her practice. Today she provides comprehensive legal services in business law, civil litigation, business counseling, estate planning, probate, and civil appeals. Active in the State Bar of Texas, she edits The Advocate for the Litigation Section and recently served as editor of The Appellate Advocate. In addition to her full-time practice, Kristen teaches business law at Lubbock Christian University, coaches moot-court teams at Texas Tech Law, and co-teaches pre-law and mock-trial classes at the Talkington School for Young Women Leaders. She lives in Lubbock with her husband, David, and their spirited puppy, Copper PAWfreniere.
