Lack of Communication and Follow-Through

I hired Mr. McGiverin in August 2025 for a simple contract dispute, a very clear breach of contract by my client. The agreed scope was limited to drafting and sending a demand letter and negotiating a resolution. Despite repeated follow-ups over more than two months, no demand letter was ever drafted... or sent. I received an invoice for work I had not requested or authorized, and after I terminated representation due to lack of communication, the firm withdrew most of my retainer without any clear justification or explanation. Communication throughout was inconsistent, and I was met with repeated delays, unclear updates, and evident disorganization within the office, resulting in no substantive progress. I now find myself in a position where I have been disadvantaged twice, first by my client and now by my own counsel. I do not recommend working with this attorney.

Incompetency

He could not defend his client's interest in the court. He only not objected to present client's evidences to the judge, but he could not simply give a closing statement when asked by a judge. Also, he could not argue to discredit the opponent’s denial to a signed affidavit. He simply accepted whatev...er statement the opponent made without scrutinizing the opponent’s statement. He only not drafted, signed, and submitted a decree to the court without mutual agreement with his client and no signature from his client, but misconstrued the judge’s rendition which increased the client’s lost instead of helping to reduce client’s lost.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
