Georgia Santos Evangelista

I am a licensed attorney in Brazil and in the United States, where I found my true calling in the immigration law area. In the U.S., I graduated from Florida State University College of Law, where I obtained my Masters in American Law (LL.M.) in addition to my Juris Doctor. I first gained experience in immigration law as a volunteer at the Center for Advancement of Human Rights, representing clients in asylum, domestic violence, human trafficking, and refugee cases. After that, I enrolled in various internships and externships in the public interest law field. I directly assisted a family law judge at the Second Circuit Court, who was an excellent mentor, leading me to my next experience at the FSU Law’s Children’s Advocacy Clinic. I learned about the foster care system and handled adoption and special immigration juvenile cases. The work I did there solidified my commitment to stand up and advocate for underrepresented people in vulnerable situations, but also enabled me to be in contact with immigration again.
After becoming a licensed attorney in Florida, I applied for jobs in Austin, TX to be reunited with friends & family members who live here. After being an associate for more than five years, I decided to apply my experience towards my own firm. I have experience with family-based petitions, removal defense, waivers, humanitarian visas, representation before USCIS & bond proceedings. My work experience, language skills, and passion enabled me to create SanLaurent Law Group.
