Thomas Paul Vargas

I'm an associate attorney at Baker Law Group, where my practice focuses on business and real estate disputes, intellectual property, and general civil litigation. I represent businesses, property owners, and individuals in matters involving contracts, commercial relationships, and property rights.

I approach every dispute as a business problem. I evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a case early, communicate clearly about what to expect, and build a strategy around my client's financial and practical goals. I look for opportunities to narrow or resolve disputes through focused motion practice, and I have secured summary judgment for a subcontractor in a construction-defect dispute and for a homeowners association facing malicious prosecution and breach of contract claims.

I'm also a registered patent attorney with experience in the prosecution and litigation of patent and trademark matters. My biology degree gives me a technical background that helps me navigate scientific and technical issues with ease.

I earned my J.D., cum laude, from St. Mary's University School of Law, where I served as Senior Articles Editor of the St. Mary's Law Journal, and my B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. During law school, I served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Xavier Rodriguez and the Hon. David Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. I'm licensed in Texas and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
