Paul Andrew Smith

  After spending my first 8 years in Ohio, I am a long-term Austinite.  I left to San Antonio and Brazoria Coun after graduating from UT Law, I moved to San Antonio to work with legal aid, which is how I started Landlord/Tenant, Real Estate and Housing Law work.  My first assignment was staffing the "Renter's Guild a Landlord/Tenant Law hotline.  I also did Fair Housing and did some "do gooder" Don Quijote representing residents of a Historic Housing Project the Housing Authority wished to demolsh. 

 in 1999, I took another legal aid type position with the Gulf Coast Legal Foundation near Houston (Angleton) and started practicing Family Law and Consumer Protection Law as well.  Eventually, I was tempted to come back to Austin became too much and I took a position with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.  There, I was in-house with a State Agency.  In addition to Affordable Housing and anti-poverty work and certified Community Housing Development Organizations.  I also worked on Employment issues, and Housing Tax Credit Litigattion.  

      After a brief stint with a non-profit focusing on advising victims of domestic violence, I entered private Practice for good in 2009.  It is largely a civil practice, I have become inolved in Criminal law when a civil client has an issue.  Similarly, a Family Law client was involved in an automobile accident in 2013, and I developed a something of a Personal Injury Practice as a result.  I know about a number of areas and am particularly well-schooled on Housing, Real Estate, and Landlord/Tenant Matters.  By all means contact me if you have a question.
