Joshua Griffin

Josh Griffin is a Texas criminal defense attorney and Austin-based Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. A former felony prosecutor with eight years of prosecutorial experience, Mr. Griffin represents clients in Travis County and surrounding Central Texas communities, including Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Blanco, and Burnet counties. His experience handling serious criminal cases gives him firsthand insight into how prosecutors investigate allegations, evaluate evidence, determine charges, negotiate plea agreements, and present cases to juries.

Mr. Griffin earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Sam Houston State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law. While in law school, he served as president and treasurer of the Student Bar Association and worked with the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.

During his prosecutorial career, Mr. Griffin served in the Bell, Falls, and Johnson County district attorney’s offices, including leadership roles as a court chief. He prosecuted cases involving murder, crimes against children, sexual assault, family violence, DWI, theft, and other serious violent and property offenses. He secured more than 30 felony jury convictions and developed substantial experience preparing and trying complex criminal cases.

Mr. Griffin now applies that experience to defending individuals accused of misdemeanor and felony offenses throughout the Austin area and Central Texas. Having evaluated cases from the prosecution’s perspective, he knows how to identify weaknesses in the government’s evidence, anticipate prosecutorial strategies, assess potential defenses, and prepare clients for each stage of the criminal process. He approaches every case with a trial-ready mindset while pursuing favorable resolutions through negotiation when appropriate.
